Flight Simulator on 'roids

I spent this morning playing with our (meaning the FAA's) Beech 310 flight simulator. I'm a real pilot so this was all pretty familiar, and quite realistic.

Out front, there are 3 Dell 24" LCD panels. Inside is a whole Beech 310 panel...the real thing. There's what seems to be a 19" LCD providing the cockpit glass (HSI, etc). It takes 3 PCs to run it. The software is Microsoft Flight Simulator with terrain maps of our home airport area which is ACY. I've flown in and out of ACY more times than I can count and flying around the area in his contraption is surreal.

I had planned to put away the "technology" since I was at the park with my daughter. As soon as I did that, someone invited her to play tennis over at the adjacent courts. They lent her a spare racket and off she went. This pic was too cute to pass up. If she ends up loving it, I'll have to buy a racket and I'll end up being asked to play with her. We'd probably have fun, now that I think about it. She probably won't want to play with her dad forever ;)

A Quick lunch break

I took my lunch break today by driving home to eat-except today I got to do it in a Porsche Carrera 4 Cabriolet. I have a *very* trusting friend that lends me her 911 from time to time and today was one of those times. It was a gorgeous day out, too, and tooling around town with the top down made for a great lunch break.

I'm updating my Pleo's OS

I just downloaded LifeOS v1.0.2 which supposedly updates my little robotic dinosaur's operating system to have improved use of his senses. I can't wait to see how it goes!
